SHANNON O'MALLEY

A creative and results-driven communications professional, Shannon O'Malley’s experience has spanned more than a decade across a multitude of industries. Prior to founding SOM PR in 2018, O’Malley discovered her passion for travel & tourism, having served as the public relations manager for the iconic Breakers Palm Beach. In her role, she was responsible for articulating and promoting the resort, and all related businesses, with a goal of maximizing editorial opportunities that ultimately drove revenue. Throughout her tenure, she developed strategies for the property inclusive of the opening of Flagler Club, a luxury boutique hotel-within-a-hotel; the debut of the new spa, and legendary Seafood Bar; in addition to supporting media efforts at global events including the Global Wellness Summit and Engage - the luxury wedding business summit.

Her unique perspective accounts for both the operational demands and challenges clients face, combined with a global agency mentality. Before joining The Breakers, she held a leadership role with a boutique tourism agency in Miami, managing a number of properties throughout Florida and the Caribbean, in addition to the Costa Rica Tourism Board. Outside of traditional media relations efforts, O’Malley’s experience encompasses internal corporate communications, crisis management, custom publication direction and oversight, short-and-long-format video creation, blog content, and strategic partnerships with national brands to launch effective influencer campaigns.

While she currently calls South Florida home, her ability to identify compelling storylines on behalf of clients ranging in size from Fortune 500 companies and global destinations, to startup businesses and boutique hotels, has presented her with opportunities to travel everywhere from the shores of the Caribbean, to the showroom floor of Toy Fair, to the Olympic Village in Beijing - where she represented one of Games' largest worldwide sponsors on the global stage.
